With the Christmas Holiday behind us, families are taking a breather and enjoying the wonderland in Door County.  The Homestead Suites hosts our annual and first-time Winter Break guests who appreciate our indoor pool and whirlpool when they return from a hike, snowshoeing or sledding in Peninsula State Park.

History does repeat itself.  This is the 16th year this family has come together from as far north as Washington Island and as far south as Wheaton, Illinois.   Generation after generation, ages 1 thru 83 they celebrate their Christmas at the Homestead Suites in Fish Creek.

Let It Snow !

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

It is snowing in Fish Creek! Snowbirds have flown South, and some of the Main Street merchants have too!  Our deer hunters have another gun season in their rear view mirrors, and will hold out for a trophy from what's remaining of the archery season. The Homestead is home to several annual family Christmas gatherings which are coming up in the next few weeks.  How lovely it is to reconnect with our guests and see how their families have GROWN over the years!

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Maybe there will be a blanket of white for next weekend's official Tree lighting and Caroling at the Noble House Square in Fish Creek.  The town is aglow with holiday lights.  End of the year sales are posted in the store windows.  Peninsula State Park is awaiting the cross country ski enthusiasts, winter campers, snowshoe hikers and of course, those who brave the ice fishing.

IT'S OFFICIALLY THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

The 2016 Christmas Season is upon us!  The Homestead Suites has it's trees and wreaths lit, illuminating the Main Street of Fish Creek.  Deer hunters are setting their sites on hopes of bagging that 30 pointer!  Holiday get-togethers  are being planned and guests from near and far are taking advantage of the great Winter specials at the Homestead. 

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Plan your December getaway in Door County.  Fish Creek will have their tree lighting and caroling on December 10th.  Come and see this quaint harbor town all lit up for the holidays.

 

BEGINNING THE QUIET SEASON-

As the flocks of geese are headed South for Winter, flocks of tourists have been staying at the Homestead Suites to take advantage of the unseasonably WARM weather!  Yes, today the temp is 64 degrees. Our guests are stretching out their shopping trips or hiking a few more miles in the State Park.  Bikers are still renting bicycles and observing the remaining Fall landscape in Door County. 


The Homestead hunters are hunting.   Housekeeping is starting the Fall cleaning.  Maintenance and Front Desk Staff are taking care of all that keeps the hotel in great shape for this year-round resort. Many return guests are planning their Winter getaways with our great package deals!


The Evergreen Hill Condo owners have been on task decorating their units for the Christmas holidays.

FISH CREEK CHATTER: 

For November in Fish Creek, the streets are lined with visitors, the football fans are watching their favorite teams.  The Fall Colors are just about finished, and the locals are preparing displays for the Christmas holidays.

HALF WAY THROUGH OCTOBER

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

The annual Sister Bay Fall Fest weekend is coming to an end.  Visitors from near and far came to celebrate the season in style!  A great number of our return guests took advantage of the chance to watch the parade, grab a bite and stroll through the arts and crafts exhibits.  For most, the Homestead Suites is their 'home away from home'.  Sunday's very warm weather was welcomed by all  as the early morning fog lifted.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Next weekend the Door County Fall 50 takes place, with those participating who appreciate the beautiful Autumn landscape that the County has to offer.

The final "Hurrah" of October is JACK O'LANTERN DAYS in Fish Creek for all who want to acknowledge the Halloween weekend.  Costume party, parade and trick or treating for the kids.

Pumpkin Patch Weekend is underway!  The whole peninsula enjoys celebrating the Fall Color, arts & crafts, grabbing a brat and that last ear of roasted corn for the year.  The Homestead boasts its colorful Autumn display, and guests take their selfies next to our cornstalks!






The Homestead staff is keeping up with the near-capacity number of guests during these popular weeks in October.  How wonderful it is to visit with our many return guests, who do their annual pilgrimage to appreciate the Door County Fall Season.






The local archery hunters are waiting to bag the big one, and the snowbirds are planning their escape to warmer climates.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Shoppers are taking advantage of the Seasonal Sales at the retailers.  Visitors are remarking about the great eating opportunities, orchards are harvesting and guests are stocking up on their favorite bag of apples or special cherry pie to take home.  Don't forget to plan your Winter trip to Fish Creek. 



Winding Down and Gearing Up...

As Autumn approaches, we reflect on a super Summer Season, and look forward to a busy Fall.  Many of our long time guests are returning for that last bicycle ride of the year in Peninsula State Park, taking that hike at the Ridges Sanctuary, or just getting that last shopping trip in before the fair weather ends.


The Homestead staff is keeping up with the demands of providing excellent guest service. While we meet and greet our new guests, we are catching up on the happenings in the lives of our return guests.  What a pleasure to see all our friends enjoying themselves as they each come to the Homestead Suites for their own unique reasons!

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

The town has not slowed down a bit, and the marigolds are still lining the streets.  Each weekend seems to attract many different visitors. Fish Creek has the big INSIDE/OUTSIDE SALE this coming weekend.  Eagle Tower in the State Park has been dismantled.  Trolleys are touring, wineries are doing tasting, apple orchards are there for the picking.

It is a pleasure to accommodate our many return guests, along with the new tourists and families who are trying us for the first time.  Everyone seems to want to come back! The local morning 'coffee clutch' adds a special charm to your stay at the Homestead Suites.  The latest fishing hot spots, weather forecasts and sporting events are among the daily topics.


The Homestead Suites is constantly keeping up with the demands of a premier resort hotel in Fish Creek, WI.  Our Laundry Department is quite happy with the  addition of another commercial washing machine!

This quaint harbor town is hopping with busy shoppers, bikers, hikers, kayakers, beach goers, boaters and anyone who enjoys the Summer happenings in Fish Creek!  The weather has been outstanding, and of course intermittent rain showers are appreciated by the farmers.  The July 4th celebration was a huge success, and the weekly special events have been well attended.  Cherry Season has just begun, so don't delay making your plans to pick your own cherries!

With the Memorial Day Weekend in progress, so many return guests along with some new faces have made the Homestead Suites their hotel of choice.  Weather has cooperated for the most part, and the last of the Spring blossoms have been viewed by all.  Hikers, bicyclists, and bird watchers have taken advantage of our great location at the entrance to Peninsula State Park.

The marigolds have been planted that line Main Street !!  Year after year, travelers look forward to the colors that are reminiscent of years past.  Fish Creek is hopping with shoppers, and those anxious to dine at the favorite establishments, as well as those just taking a stroll in this quaint harbor town.

Homestead Suites is ready for another fun-filled tourist season in Door County! Last weekend celebrated Mother's Day along with the Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet 5K in Peninsula State Park.  Guests who competed (walking or running) returned to the hotel - each with their own comments and story to tell.  Some were refreshed, others....not so much.  Chuck was looking for a good massage!!

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Town is opening for the "Season".  Some restaurants and businesses are open full-time, while others are open just on weekends until Memorial Day Weekend.  The new construction at Julie's (next door) is almost complete, and the blossoms are budding!

LOOK WHAT SHOWED UP AT THE HOMESTEAD GUEST HOUSE!!  One by one, buds are bursting, and the promise of Spring's arrival is evident.  Runners in the May Door County Half Marathon are sure to appreciate all the breathtaking views that Peninsula State Park has to offer.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR!

Once again, the Homestead Suites is keeping up with the demands of a premier resort/hotel in Fish Creek, WI!  Tile has been replaced, spring cleaning has begun, bathroom remodeling is underway in some of our suites.  Guests are excited to plan and book their vacations for 2016. 


One by one, the snowbirds are making their way north.  Some of the locals are taking a last-minute trip south of the border before the tourist season is in full swing.


As far as our sportsmen are concerned, Spring fishermen are dropping a line here and there; Turkey hunters are awaiting their 'weeks' coming up.   Bicycles are being tuned up and hikers are dusting off their boots!

Around town you will find preparations being made for the Annual DOOR COUNTY HALF MARATHON, taking place the first Saturday of May in Peninsula State Park. 


JULIE'S PARK CAFE AND MOTEL has undergone a complete facelift over the winter.  The former Arroyo Bay Grill has now become FISH CREEK GRILLE. 


Blossoms are sprouting and May looks to be an awesome time to visit Fish Creek!!

Our indoor pool & hot tub are a perfect way to end your day after participating in your favorite Winter sport.  Peninsula State Park hosts our cross country ski and snowshoe enthusiasts, while  fishing and skating are happening on the ice.   

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

With the Winter weather upon us, reservations are pouring in for the Annual Fish Creek Winter Festival to be held February 6, 2016! Yes.....join in the fun downtown.  Clark Park will have a heated tent complete with a chili cook-off, food and drink.  Don't miss the Tandem Ski Race, Snow Shoe Dance and another great fireworks display at the end of the day!
