As December arrives, there is no measurable snow to report.  However, the holiday trees are up and lit beautifying our harbor town.  The Homestead is welcoming our Winter guests who either need to take that hike in Peninsula State Park, or just need to have some calm before the upcoming holidays!

The snowshoes, skis and ice fishing equipment are on stand-by, but ready to go once the temps and weather are appropriate.

Rumor has it that some of our "locals" have already bagged their buck!  The Homestead crew is out on the opening day of the gun deer season in Door County.  CLETUS and BUBBA (below) are sure glad that they don't have to endure another hunting season!  

FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON

November 9,  2017 marks the first snowfall of the season in Fish Creek.  Some leaves are still on the trees, the wind is howling, temps are just below freezing.  Roads are clear and the beauty of Winter is upon us!

It was a great day for Trick Or Treat in Fish Creek.  The Homestead welcomed our little costumed friends!

With everyone still enjoying the warmer Fall temperatures and the colors that are still on the trees, the Homestead Suites is hopping with many guests taking it all in!  The Fall Festivals are over, but participants in the Door County Fall 50 took full advantage of a beautiful day for a run.

Next weekend, Fish Creek celebrates Jack-O-Lantern Days with a variety of activities with a parade for all who wish to acknowledge the Halloween Spirit!

The Homestead Suites still has a couple of rooms open if you want to plan your last minute getaway.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

A few of the highlights of the Trick or Treat Weekend are:  Trolley Ghost and Pub Crawl Tours, Halloween Costume Parade, Kids' Halloween Party and, of course Trick or Treating!

Wrap up October in a grand way.

AUTUMN ARRIVES

So many guests are coming back to the Homestead Suites to take in that last essence of Summer.  Temps are unseasonably warm this week and bicycle riders, hikers, golfers, shoppers and some Segway riders are taking advantage of the great weather. There are only few trees that are showing signs of the fall colors that will peak in a few weeks. Our outdoor pool just closed for the season today, and the gardens are still displaying vibrant colors.

Don't delay in making your Fall reservations.  There are still some openings.

The NEW Guest House has become the favorite of many guests who have stayed and already booked for next year!!  Don't forget to check out the PINE:

Summer tourism at the Homestead is still at it's peak.  Our guests are loving our front entrance display and are trying to guess what some of the varieties are!  Our great location at the entrance to Peninsula State Park is a favorite for our cyclists and hikers. There is still time to plan your Fall getaway.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

This weekend wrapped up the Civil War Encampment display in the Fish Creek Park.  History all around!  Shoppers are bagging their souvenirs and all are enjoying the great dining choices in town.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

With the Fourth of July celebrations around the Door Peninsula, guests are enjoying the wonderful weather (NO RAIN!!) The Homestead is "Home Away From Home" for so many of our return guests.  Flags and patriotic decorations adorn the town.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

A good time was had by all downtown for the Independence festivities Saturday night.  Folks from all over had sweet corn, beverages, listened to the live music and experienced a unique fireworks display!  Year after year, Fish Creek has become the place to celebrate!

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

With June almost at an end, the Homestead Suites is in full swing for the Summer season.  It is wonderful to welcome many of our return guests back for another stay.  Greeting and meeting our new guests has also been a pleasure.


Guests who are staying in the New Guest House Suites (Pine and Cedar) are loving the new look and feel of the space! Many compliments to the designers, decorators and workers.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

The town is hopping, as usual.  New this season is  Barringer's Crossing which was formerly the Summertime Restaurant.  Peninsula State Park still offers Door County's natural beauty at its finest and the marigolds are planted along Main Street.


Fish Creek  welcomes everyone to celebrate the Fourth of July on July 1st!  Clark Park is the place for refreshments, music and fireworks.

Yes, our Guest House Suites are just about done!  The finishing touches are being put on and the excitement is building for all of our guests who are waiting for their reservations in the completely remodeled Cedar and Pine units in the Guest House, which will be available year-round.

APPLE SUITES UPDATE

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

As many of you know, our former Hickory Suites (1bdrm king, whirlpool, fireplace) have been upgraded with the removal of the double whirlpool tubs from the bathrooms.  Tubs have been replaced with  walk-in rain showers.  In addition,  cabinets with granite countertops have been installed.  Several rooms are complete, and the remainder of the NEW APPLE SUITES should be available in May.

April Showers Bring May Flowers...

The Homestead Suites is finishing up some remodeling projects including our APPLE Suites.  They have the same floorplan as the former Hickory, except that the bathroom has a walk-in rain shower which replaces the old double whirlpool tubs. The countertops and cabinetry have also been upgraded.  Don't forget to check our website for the latest images when they are complete.

The off-season renovation of our Guest House (Pine and Cedar) is coming along nicely.  We hope to see the results sometime in May.

MARCH....CAME IN LIKE A LION

Will it go Out Like a Lamb? With the taste of Spring that we experienced during parts of February, we are hopeful that March will indeed Go Out Like a Lamb!  The Homestead is undergoing our usual off-season maintenance while still providing ample accommodations for our Winter guests.


The former "Hickory" Suites are being converted to the "Apple Suites".  The rooms that were converted last year were a hit with guests who enjoyed the new Walk-In Rain Showers in the bathrooms. 


Our Guest House has been "under construction" since November and is receiving a complete internal remodel with new floor plans, furnishings and amenities.  We'll keep you updated on the progress.

The week between Christmas and New Year's means a trip to Door County for several families who choose the Homestead Suites for their annual gathering. Check out the hungry birds being fed at the White Cedar Nature Center in Peninsula State Park.  The perfect outing for all ages!

 

 

 

 

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Snowbirds have gone south and the locals rung in the New Year with various celebrations. Some enjoyed a nice, quiet evening at home with family and friends.  The Fish Creek Winter Festival is just weeks away, and those outdoor activities are being planned.  Come and join us for some great cold weather fun in Clark Park and on the ice (weather permitting).
