MARCH....CAME IN LIKE A LION
COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:
Will it go Out Like a Lamb? With the taste of Spring that we experienced during parts of February, we are hopeful that March will indeed Go Out Like a Lamb! The Homestead is undergoing our usual off-season maintenance while still providing ample accommodations for our Winter guests. The former "Hickory" Suites are being converted to the "Apple Suites". The rooms that were converted last year were a hit with guests who enjoyed the new Walk-In Rain Showers in the bathrooms.
Our Guest House has been "under construction" since November and is receiving a complete internal remodel with new floor plans, furnishings and amenities. We'll keep you updated on the progress.
Don't forget to make your Spring Break plans to visit the Homestead Suites in Fish Creek for your biking, hiking, shopping, eating, fishing and wine tasting activities!

Pumpkin Patch Weekend is underway! The whole peninsula enjoys celebrating the Fall Color, arts & crafts, grabbing a brat and that last ear of roasted corn for the year. The Homestead boasts its colorful Autumn display, and guests take their selfies next to our cornstalks! The Homestead staff is keeping up with the near-capacity number of guests during these popular weeks in October. How wonderful it is to visit with our many return guests, who do their annual pilgrimage to appreciate the Door County Fall Season.

Guests are excited to plan and book their vacations for 2016.One by one, the snowbirds are making their way north. Some of the locals are taking a last-minute trip south of the border before the tourist season is in full swing.
As far as our sportsmen are concerned, Spring fishermen are dropping a line here and there; Turkey hunters are awaiting their 'weeks' coming up. Bicycles are being tuned up and hikers are dusting off their boots!
FISH CREEK CHATTER:
Around town you will find preparations being made for the Annual DOOR COUNTY HALF MARATHON, taking place the first Saturday of May in Peninsula State Park.

THINKING SPRING. . .
COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:
As many Spring Breaks are being completed, visitors to the Door Peninsula are taking in the milder temps-leaving their skis behind, and bringing their hiking shoes, bicycles and light weight jackets! The Homestead Staff is working diligently on completing their Spring tasks in all departments: Spring Cleaning, Linen updates, Indoor Maintenance and Landscaping.
Our Manager oversees all activities and is also looking forward to his turkey hunting week and getting those golf clubs ready! The Front Desk is taking advance reservations. Can't wait to welcome back our Return Guests, as well as preparing for our First Time Visitors, Group Travelers, Weddings, Family Reunions, Bikers and Golfers.
FISH CREEK CHATTER:
Around town, the Christmas lights are (mostly) down. The White Gull Inn has reopened after a two week closure for some remodeling. The snowbird business owners have yet to return, and the locals are filtering back from their Spring Breaks. Still taking bets on "When the ice will be out" of Green Bay. Looking forward to a wonderful Tourist Season in FISH CREEK! Happy Easter to all.

A DOOR COUNTY WINTER-
COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:
As 2015 begins, frigid temps and negative wind chill factors seem to be the norm. Local ice fisherman are catching some tasty filets. Our guests who braved the elements for Valentine's / President's Day weekend were looking for a bit more snow, but a good time was had by all. Great to visit with all of our return guests as well as welcoming our new guests to the Homestead Suites!FISH CREEK CHATTER:
The Jacksonport Polar Bear Club took the annual PLUNGE on New Year's Day. Groundhog saw his shadow . . . . . Fish Creek's February Winter Festival brought out the best in everyone as the temps were actually milder than expected. Plenty of events with shopping and dining were well attended. Of course, the hot tub, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot coffee were favorites back at the Homestead.Wednesday, November 5, 2014
NOVEMBER IS HERE
COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:
As the off-season arrives, our meticulous housekeeping staff is kept busy with Fall Cleaning projects. The Front Desk and Maintenance staff are exhaling a sigh of relief, then taking a deep breath in preparation for end of the year tasks and planning for 2015. Oh yes, and the Management is HUNTING!! Several of the local archers have targeted some venison already, and our waterfowl hunters are taking aim as the flocks head south for the winter.
Election Day was a huge success with a record number of voters casting their ballots. The seasonal restaurants and shops are closed up, and the year-round businesses are hunckered down for the approaching winter weather. Temps may take a dive this next week, and the weatherbugs will keep close watch on any "accumulation".
As always, Peninsula State Park is here all year for your outdoor enjoyment.

Gearing up . .
Homestead Coffee House Buzz
Can you believe it snowed yesterday with flurries lingering today? After the major meltdown last week, about 3" of snow arrived yesterday morning. Enough is enough! I think we are all ready for the WARM days of Spring to arrive.Even though Mother Nature takes her time, the Homestead Staff is busy preparing for the upcoming season. Various rooms and hallways are receiving new carpeting for Easter, and the housekeepers are hopping at their Spring Cleaning duties.
What's New in Fish Creek
The Cookery should be open in a few weeks. The Wild Tomato is serving up hand-tossed pizza. Looks like the Arroyo Bay Grill is open again for the season, too!The ice will be off the bay soon, and local fisherman are eager to drop their lines.
The Door County Half Marathon is a sell out for the first Saturday in May, and we are so excited to see our return runners and their families back at the Homestead.
