WRAPPING UP 2014

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

The Homestead has "Decked the Halls" inside and out preparing for holiday guests, family get-togethers and sharing the joy of the season.  Winter enthusiasts are taking advantage of our Romance Packages and  'Suite'  Specials.  Whether you prefer to escape before, during or after the holiday rush, the Homestead is the place to be.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

After an unusually cold and snowy November, December has been a bit milder so far.  The town is aglow with holiday decorations, anticipating the picturesque snowflakes that fall on this quaint harbor town.  Tree lighting, caroling and a social at the Old Town Hall are some of the planned events. All are welcome!

NOVEMBER IS HERE

COFFEE HOUSE BUZZ:

As the off-season arrives, our meticulous housekeeping staff is kept busy with Fall Cleaning projects.  The Front Desk and Maintenance staff are exhaling a sigh of relief, then taking a deep breath in preparation for end of the year tasks and planning for 2015.  Oh yes, and the Management is HUNTING!!  Several of the local archers have targeted some venison already, and our waterfowl hunters are taking aim as the flocks head south for the winter.

FISH CREEK CHATTER:

Election Day was a huge success with a record number of voters casting their ballots.  The seasonal restaurants and shops are closed up, and the year-round businesses are hunckered down for the approaching winter weather.  Temps may take a dive this next week, and the weatherbugs will keep close watch on any "accumulation".

As always, Peninsula State Park is here all year for your outdoor enjoyment.

FALL, 2014

QUIET SEASON IS APPROACHING . .

Homestead Coffee House Buzz:

While the Summer/Fall Tourist season is winding down in Fish Creek, more and more visitors are planning their Winter retreats and quiet romantic getaways!  A few of the local restaurants will be closing up after this weekend, and bit by bit Fish Creek will settle in to it's Winter routine.

After a very rainy spell, the sun has been shining through, radiating the beautiful fall colors that are the pride of Door County. Shoppers are taking advantage of "end of the season' sales and the Homestead is maintaining its high standard of guest satisfaction.

Fish Creek Chatter:

Jack-O-Lantern Days is planned for this coming weekend, with some Trick-Or-Treating along the way.  Markers for The Door County Fall 50 run are lining the streets. Winery tours are booking up, and reservations are being taken for the Manager's Special and Weekend Romance Packages for this Winter Silent Sport Vacationland!

Don't forget the awesome wonders that Peninsula State Park (in our backyard) has to offer.  Snowshoe, cross country ski, hike or sled down hill 17 for your enjoyment.

SIZZLING SUMMER NEWS

Homestead Coffee House Buzz:

Well, since Easter things have been steadily gearing up for this very busy Summer Season at The Homestead Suites.  Paul is back in town, Kevin and Mark have been keeping the hotel running smoothly, and the rest of the Staff is in Full Swing!

Our continental breakfast layout and items have changed a bit, and those changes have been well received by our guests and returning guests.

Fish Creek Chatter:

The Independence Day celebration in Fish Creek was VERY well attended by our guests, the locals, and the day trippers!  The Fireworks display received great reviews, and everyone seems to be moving a bit slower today!

With all the great activities and the wonderful weather that we have, Fish Creek is the place to spend your vacation!  Peninsula State Park is right around the corner, with bicycle trails, beaches and Door County Serenity.

Easter Week

Homestead Coffee House Buzz:

Congratulations to one of our local turkey hunters who bagged a nice 22# turkey this week!

Two other local fishermen are back with great tans after a fishing trip to the Bahamas!

Fish Creek Chatter:

The snowbirds are arriving back in town one by one.  Little did they know that our weather is not eggs-actly what was expected the day before Easter.  Wish they would have brought some of that southern sunshine and warm temperatures back with them.

Kids are taking part in Easter Egg Hunts this weekend.  Things are hopping in town, too!

From Stage to Scenery, Fish Creek Entertains

Located in the heart of Door County, Wisconsin, Fish Creek boasts over 300 miles of scenic shoreline, five state parks, and hundreds of art studios. Fish Creek was settled by loggers and fishermen in 1853 and is now a bustling shoreline community that offers you the best in shopping, dining and entertainment.

Before starting your day of golf, biking or hiking in the State Park, stop and enjoy a cup of coffee in our lobby. We are one block away from the Door Community Auditorium which throughout the year features big name entertainers and is the home of the Peninsula Music Festival

Fish Creek is also close to other cultural attractions like Birch Creek Music Performance Center, the American Folklore Theater in Peninsula State Park and the Peninsula Players Theatre, the oldest professional resident summer theater in the U.S.

Located at the Peninsula State Park entrance, we offer the very best in biking, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The park offers a complete trail system for everyone. With its picturesque harbor and waterfront, relaxing atmosphere, and cultural attractions, it's easy to see why Fish Creek is well-liked.

Gearing up . .

Homestead Coffee House Buzz

Can you believe it snowed yesterday with flurries lingering today?  After the major meltdown last week, about 3" of snow arrived yesterday morning.  Enough is enough!  I think we are all ready for the WARM days of Spring to arrive.

Even though Mother Nature takes her time, the Homestead Staff is busy preparing for the upcoming season.  Various rooms and hallways are receiving new carpeting for Easter, and the housekeepers are hopping at their Spring Cleaning duties.

What's New in Fish Creek

The Cookery should be open in a few weeks. The Wild Tomato is serving up hand-tossed pizza.   Looks like the Arroyo Bay Grill is open again for the season, too!

The ice will be off the bay soon, and local fisherman are eager to drop their lines.

The Door County Half Marathon is a sell out for the first Saturday in May, and we are so excited to see our return runners and their families back at the Homestead.
